These standards exist because the online gambling content space has a credibility problem.
Most sites in this space are commercial operations dressed as editorial publications — their analysis exists to generate revenue, not to inform readers. Wager Layer is built on a different model. These standards define what that means in practice and how we hold ourselves to it.
Standard 1
Editorial independence
Wager Layer's editorial content is produced independently of any commercial relationships we hold. Platforms we earn affiliate commission from receive the same analytical treatment as platforms we have no commercial relationship with. A platform cannot pay to be featured, pay to improve its rating, or pay to have negative findings removed or softened.

Standard 2
Affiliate disclosure
Wager Layer earns commission through affiliate partnerships with some of the platforms we cover. When you click a link to a platform and sign up, we may receive a payment from that platform. This is how this publication sustains itself financially.
We disclose this clearly rather than obscuring it, because we believe informed readers make better decisions — and because we have nothing to hide about how we operate.
How affiliate links are marked
Pages containing affiliate links carry a disclosure notice at the top of the page. Individual affiliate links are identified where practical. We never disguise a commercial link as a purely editorial recommendation without disclosure.
What affiliate status does not affect
Whether a platform is featured, the content of our analysis, the findings we publish, how we rate terms and conditions, or whether we report negative community experiences about that platform.
FTC compliance
Wager Layer's affiliate disclosure practices are designed to comply with FTC guidelines on endorsements and testimonials. If you believe any disclosure on this site is inadequate or unclear, contact us and we will review it immediately.
Standard 3
Content accuracy & sourcing
Every factual claim published on Wager Layer must be traceable to a primary source. We do not publish unverified claims, repeat platform marketing language as fact, or cite secondary sources where primary sources are available.
| Claim type | Required source |
|---|---|
| Platform terms & conditions | Direct quote or paraphrase from the platform's own published documents, with section reference |
| State legal status | Relevant state statute, AG opinion, or official regulatory guidance — dated and linked where possible |
| Industry news & events | Primary source (company announcement, court filing, press release) or named credible news publication |
| Community-reported experiences | Named public forum (e.g. r/SweepstakesCasinos), with pattern noted across multiple reports |
| Editorial opinion & analysis | Clearly labelled as editorial analysis, not presented as verified fact |
Standard 4
What we will not publish
These are absolute limits. They apply regardless of commercial pressure, SEO considerations, or requests from platforms or readers.
Hard limits
Fabricated data. We will not publish withdrawal times, KYC processing times, or any operational metrics we have not sourced from documented evidence or verifiable community patterns.
Paid editorial. We will not publish content that has been paid for by a platform and presented as independent editorial analysis.
Suppressed findings. We will not remove or soften documented negative findings about a platform in exchange for commercial consideration or at a platform's request.
Undisclosed affiliate content. We will not publish affiliate links without disclosure, regardless of platform.
Legal advice. We will not present our regulatory analysis as legal advice. We publish information — not professional legal opinions.
Standard 5
Content updates & corrections
The online gambling landscape changes continuously. Wager Layer content is designed to be maintained, not published once and forgotten.
Planned updates
Platform profiles are reviewed when material changes occur — new terms, state availability changes, regulatory developments. Every update is logged publicly in the page's change log. We do not silently edit content.
Corrections
If we publish an error, we correct it promptly and transparently. Corrections are noted on the relevant page with the date. We do not delete corrections or pretend the original error did not exist.
Submit a correction
If you believe any content on Wager Layer contains a factual error, an outdated legal status, or an inaccurate platform term, contact us through the contact page. Include the specific page URL, the claim you believe is incorrect, and the source you are citing. We investigate every substantiated correction request and respond directly.
Standard 6
Conflicts of interest
We disclose any material conflict of interest that could affect our analysis. This includes affiliate relationships, sponsored content, and any financial interest in the platforms we cover.
Where a conflict exists that cannot be disclosed without compromising a source, we will note that a conflict exists without specifying its nature, or we will decline to cover that platform until the conflict is resolved. We will not cover a platform while concealing a material conflict of interest.
