This Privacy Policy explains how Wager Layer ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit wagerlayer.com or subscribe to The Wager Layer Brief newsletter. We are based in Malta and operate under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as applicable EU legislation. Our readership is primarily based in the United States.
We do not sell personal data. We do not share personal data with third parties for their marketing purposes. This policy is written to be read, not to obscure our practices.
1. What information we collect
Information you provide directly
If you subscribe to our newsletter via The Wager Layer Brief, your email address is collected and stored by Beehiiv, our newsletter platform. We receive your email address and subscription status. You may optionally provide your first name. No payment information is collected — the newsletter is free.
Information collected automatically
When you visit wagerlayer.com, standard web server logs may record your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. This is standard infrastructure logging and is not used for individual user profiling.
Analytics
Google Analytics 4 (GA4, Measurement ID G-FL1Y95YBZ4) is active on this site for aggregate traffic analysis. GA4 collects anonymised usage data including pages visited, session duration, and general geographic region. Data is processed by Google under their standard terms. A cookie notice is displayed on first visit in accordance with applicable requirements.
Affiliate and referral tracking
As affiliate relationships are established, we may implement tracking tools to record clicks on outbound affiliate links and attribute referrals. These tools may use cookies to track whether a visit originated from a Wager Layer link. This policy will be updated when such tracking is active and appropriate disclosures will be implemented.
2. How we use your information
Your email address is used solely to send you The Wager Layer Brief newsletter. We do not use it for advertising, we do not profile subscribers, and we do not share it with third parties except Beehiiv as our processor (see Section 4). Aggregate analytics data is used only to understand which content is useful and to improve the site. It is never sold.
3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)
We process newsletter subscriber data on the basis of consent — you explicitly subscribed. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing via the link in any newsletter email. Analytics data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests in understanding site usage, subject to your right to object.

US readers in California may have additional rights under CCPA. As we do not sell personal data, the primary CCPA right (opt-out of sale) does not apply. For any data request, contact us at the address in Section 8.
7. Data retention
Newsletter subscriber data is retained for as long as you remain subscribed. On unsubscription, your email is removed from active send lists. Beehiiv's data retention policies apply to data held on their platform. Server logs are retained for standard operational periods (typically 30–90 days) and are not used for individual profiling.
